1. Sternal (Medial) end
Quadrangular medial extremity — articulates with manubrium of sternum (sternoclavicular joint).
2. Articular facet for sternum
Shallow smooth facet covered by cartilage for sternoclavicular contact.
3. Superior surface
Superior surface of medial two-thirds — attachment area for deep fascia/occasionally SC fibers.
4. Anterior surface
Anterior convexity in lateral third — attachments include pectoralis major fibers and platysma.
5. Subclavian groove
Inferior longitudinal groove for subclavius muscle — middle third landmark.
6. Impression for costoclavicular ligament
Rough inferior area for costoclavicular ligament to the 1st rib.
7. Shaft (thirds)
Medial/middle/lateral thirds vary in curvature; note change in surfaces.
8. Conoid tubercle
Posterior-inferior projection for conoid ligament (part of coracoclavicular complex).
9. Trapezoid line
Oblique ridge lateral to conoid tubercle — trapezoid ligament attachment.
10. Acromial (Lateral) end
Flattened lateral extremity — acromioclavicular articulation.
11. Articular facet (acromion)
Facet on lateral end covered by cartilage in life for acromion contact.
